Looks Like Torture, February 21 – March 30, 2013

     

Looks Like Torture is a performance art -based group exhibition that examines the physical and psychological torture we inflict on others and ourselves—highlighting issues of discrimination, authoritative abuse, bullying and insecurity.

The exhibition and performances—held at HERE Performing Arts Center—present a roster of international artists working in a variety of media including performance, video, photography, installation and sculpture.

As part of the six-week exhibition—opening Thursday, February 21—there will be receptions, performance art and visual installations. Additional performances related to the artwork will be held on Monday, March 4 and Monday, March 11 with panel discussions to follow.
